Fisterra Excursion: stops
Muxía
Once you make it to Muxía, you will visit the Sanctuary of A Virxe da Barca, nestled in a landscape of granite rocks, the first stop in your Fisterra Excursion.
In particular, Muxia has an important role in Christian and pagan legends being related to the legend that Virgin Mary arrived there in a boat. You will have the chance to learn about the legend of the huge rocks Pedra de Abalar and Pedra dos Cadrís, related to healing properties. All this is articulated around the magnificent sanctuary, of Baroque style with classicist strokes.
Fisterra Cape
The next stop in your Fisterra Excursion : Fisterra Cape, the Finis Terrae. The landscape around the cape is breathtaking.
The place is the destination of thousands of pilgrims who continue their journey from Santiago de Compostela or the other way around. Our guide will explain the history of the place, discovering the mysticism and symbolism of the cape, crowned by the lighthouse, with the octagonal tower.
Ezaro
We leave Cabo Fisterra behind, and travel south, now with the ocean as a travel companion, and our guide will keep you entertained telling you stories about each of the places.
This is one of the most scenic section of this excursion. Little by little you will notice that you arrive at a landscape dominated by huge granite rocks, because you are approaching O Pindo Mountain.
At its feet there is a place of enormous beauty, the waterfall of O Ézaro, the only waterfall in Europe that falls directly in the Ocean.
Muros
Leaving Ezaro behing, the excursion continues along the coastline, being even more panoramic, and passing by the great beach of Carnota we arrive at the town of Muros, where we will have free time for lunch on your own. Muros is a fishing village, where its old town stands out.
The history of this fishing village dates from the tenth century and has many examples of traditional seafaring homes, but also houses of noble architecture.
In the fisherman’s quarter you will see one of the most characteristic images of Muros, which offer arcs of a half point combined with pointed ones. For lunch, you have many options to taste the local cuisine, based above all on exquisite seafood and fresh fish.
After lunch, we will head back to Santiago de Compostela arriving around 5:30 p.m
